No Ego Odyssey

Perversions of humanity such as rape, murder, incest, crime, war, brutality, bigotry, racism, and cruelty of all types are product of human Ego, which always sees life in terms of itself and justifies actions in terms of its needs.  Evil is real, but not supernatural or relative.  Evil is Ego’s conscious, willful violation of another’s appropriate boundary, which is why we teach children they must think about others if they are to grow into healthy adults.  Similar to discarding baby-fat when growing-up, children growing into teenagers must also consciously discard Ego if they are to see outside themselves and mature.

Most parents are reluctant to tell their children to tame Ego because most believe we need a strong Ego to survive, but most parents are unaware of the profound difference between Ego and Self.  Healthy people need a strong Self to bridle Ego because untamed Ego is blindly selfish.  Sigmund Freud saw humanity as equal parts Ego, Superego, and Id battling the subconscious, which is an ignorant view because it takes humanity off the hook for being responsible for its behavior.  What psychologists call the subconscious is out-of-control Ego steamrolling everything around it.  There are more resources for putting Ego—the subconscious—in its place than most are aware.

We can only wonder how modern society remains so impotent before the cruelty of others.  Life lived without Ego is the essence of joy, but similar to how animals don’t experience music as we do, life without Ego is for those who live it.  No Ego Odyssey is about the journey living and understanding life without Ego.  Every scientist knows good science requires sidelining Ego and every practitioner of every major spirituality knows their discipline puts Ego on notice.

No Ego Odyssey portray three common stages to permanent eradication of Ego.
